Man Charged after DUI crash w/kids in Car
Troopers: Man charged after DUI crash with young kids in car Posted: Mar 04, 2015 10:56 AM EST Updated: Apr 01, 2015 11:06 AM EDT By Dal KalsiCONNECT William Henderson (Courtesy: Spartanburg Co. Detention Center) William Henderson (Courtesy: Spartanburg Co. Detention Center) MAYO, SC (FOX Carolina) - A Fingerville man faces multiple charges after troopers with the SC Highway Patrol said he crashed while driving drunk with young children in his vehicle. William Henderson, 25, crashed when he turned left in front of an oncoming 18-wheeler along Highway 110 in the Mayo area of Spartanburg County Tuesday, troopers said. Troopers said five children were in the car at the time; ranging in ages from 11 months to 7-years-old. Troopers said all children except the 7-year-old should have been in child seats but only two were properly restrained. Troopers said Henderson and all five children were taken to the hospital. Henderson was charged with two counts of felony DUI with great bodily injury, one count of child endangerment, driving under suspension first offense, open container of beer or wine in vehicle, and unlawful communication. During a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon at the Spartanburg County Detention Center, the solicitor's office revealed that two of the children injured in the crash remained hospitalized with head injuries and were in serious condition. Solicitor Barry Barnette said the three other children have been placed in DSS custody, but the family maintains that is not true. The mother of the five children, who is Henderson's ex-girlfriend, came to his defense Wednesday. "He's devastated over the situation," said Amber Moore, who has spent the last day at Greenville Memorial Hospital with her two children who were seriously injured. "He loves his kids, he really does. Everybody has their flaws. Will has a problem with drinking, he is an alcoholic. It's not only a problem, it's a disease.". .source: www.foxcarolina.com |

Derrick Burris (Source: SCSO)............ Derrick Burris (Source: SCSO)........... SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) - The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said a man is in custody after the sexual assault of a child resulted in a pregnancy. Deputies said a young girl came forward at school in February and notified personnel she was pregnant, but said the father was someone close to her age. Deputies launched an investigation during which the victim admitted she had been afraid to tell her mother the truth. She was referred to the Children's Advocacy Center. The victim told deputies 29-year-old Derrick Kendall Burris started sexually abusing her during the summer before sixth grade, when she was 10 years old. She reportedly became pregnant at 11 years old and gave birth to the baby at age 12 in May. After the baby was born, investigators said DNA samples confirmed Burris is the father of the child. He was charged on Aug. 30 with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He was taken into custody on Wednesday when the Spartanburg County warrants division spotted his vehicle. Deputies said bond will have to be set by a circuit court judge due to the nature of the charge. Copyright 2016 FOX Carolina (Meredith Corporation).
